Annual Fund

Giving back is a key value of The York School community

Since our founding in 1965, the York community has valued working together and giving back to achieve big dreams.

Your generosity plays a critical role in all this. Beyond the operating costs covered by tuition, philanthropic gifts elevate the learning experience by supporting unique classroom enhancements, specialized equipment purchases and capital investments, important wellbeing initiatives, and bursaries for promising students whose families require tuition flexibility.
Head's Initiative

The Head’s Initiative enables Struan Robertson to act on immediate priorities and longer term strategic goals to enhance the student experience across all divisions of the school. Contributions keep York nimble, responsive, and competitive as the premier gender-inclusive IB World School in Toronto.

Recently supported projects include:
  • Livestreaming System gives families a seat court-side to games and assemblies, no matter where they are.
  • On-site water distiller for our science labs improves classroom efficiency and reduces plastic waste.
  • Indigenous Floor Map shows Canada before treaties or political borders were established, creating a powerful experience for viewing Canada’s history.
  • Little Shop of Horrors was performed in December 2022 and, thanks to York donors, the large-scale puppet of Audrey II, the man-eating sentient plant, had a place on stage.

Financial Assistance Bursaries and Graduating Class Bursary Campaign

The Financial Assistance Bursaries and Graduating Class Bursary Campaign offers assistance to highly promising and talented students whose families require support to cover the full cost of tuition. The York community is committed to enriching our school by welcoming diverse voices and backgrounds from across the city. Bursaries play a critical role in delivering on that commitment.

The Class of 2024 Bursary Campaign is a challenge to the graduating families of The York School to ‘pay it forward’ by raising funds to support  financial assistance bursaries. If your child is a Class of ‘24 Grad, please help us achieve 100% class participation by donating to the Graduating Class of ‘24 Bursary Campaign.

Junior, Middle, and Senior School Priorities

This designation supports the priority needs in your child’s school division, as determined by division Principals and the Associates Heads of School, as well as Head of School, Struan Robertson.
