Parents and students have done their homework for the best mission-fit school, but how do you know for sure?
How to be warm and welcoming when site tours are still restricted?
Feb. 25 is a big day for many families in the Greater Toronto Area. It’s the day when all the Independent schools send out their Letter of Offer to the Students who have applied. It is a big day of anticipation and celebration.
Parents and students have done their homework. They have a sense of which school is the best mission-fit for their child (and the family). Academics, athletics, community spirit….so many factors have gone into their selection of choice. At the same time, with pandemic restrictions, many have not been able to see the inside of their prospective school choices. Sure, there have been virtual Open Houses, google walkthroughs and meet-the teachers and students sessions, but what can be guessed about the energy of the hallways, the buzz of student life? How does a prospective student get a sense of that energy through a Zoom interview? Is there anything they can hold onto and think: “I can see myself there.”
Aware of this, The York School decided to share the community’s enthusiasm and energy in a video welcoming the new students. So here’s a snapshot of life at The York School and we can’t wait for the new students to come and enjoy and learn IRL!
