The Annual Fund

What is the Annual Fund?

The Annual Fund addresses current student needs by providing resources that will immediately enrich their learning environment. The Annual Fund allows for progressive, unique programming and learning opportunities above and beyond the limits of the operating budget – these are the initiatives and projects that position The York School as a leader in innovative, contemporary education. The Annual Fund is made up of donations from current parents, past parents, staff and alumni. The school asks that all current families make an annual donation of any amount to the area of their choice. Read below for more information on designation options and the Head of School’s priority projects.

Heads Initiative
These priority projects are identified by the Head of School as key areas of focus for strategic school development. They can include facility upgrades, cutting-edge technology, global experiences, professional development and bringing experts into the classroom. The Heads Initiative fund also allows the School to respond to immediate needs for our students via the Annual Fund request form. Staff can submit the form to apply for a new classroom initiative that will enhance the mission and vision of the School today. Forms are reviewed by the Director of Advancement and the Head of School.

Gladiator Athletics
Sport and physical activity are a key component of our approach to education. Supporting athletics means supporting the holistic growth of our students, developing mind and body side by side. The York School boasts state of the art athletic facilities and several CISAA championship teams.

Service Learning Bursary
This is one of the unique opportunities that The York School offers for students to travel to developing nations and gain eye opening insights into and sensitivity towards lives of those in other parts of the globe - the type of learning experience that could never be duplicated in a classroom. This bursary fund has been established so that York students who might not otherwise have the opportunity to participate in Service Learning trips receive partial or full funding for their trip. The investment you make today will continue to generate income for years to come.
