Sky’s the limit at the new Junior School Playground!
Urban School looks skyward for more room to play
As an Urban School nestled in midtown Toronto, we’ve always been finding ways to enjoy the great outdoors. Whether it’s a ravine exploration, or a parcours along the beltline, we take every opportunity to play and learn outdoors.
Adding to the lure of being outside, we’ve built a new junior school playground at The York School’s Junior Campus complete with nooks for learning and space for exuberant play. Faced with the challenge of limited urban space we built skyward and now we've expanded our play and outdoor learning space by almost a third. With very cool innovative design elements with our friends at IBI and adding the Dutch twist of the towering WallHolla we created a space where everything is possible all at the same time. Interested in art, soccer, climbing, basketball, track, or taking the classroom outdoors? We've got it all!
* For any parent who has a toddler that stops and stares at the diggers on construction sites, here’s some engineering brain candy. A timelapse video of the construction of The York School’s new Playground.
