Junior School Music Programme

The goal of the Junior School Music programme, in and out of the classroom, is to foster a lifelong appreciation of, and connection to music in its many forms.

From JK to Grade 5, music classes focus on singing, recorder and Orff programmes, African drumming, music literacy, composition, music history and world music. Two choirs, as well as the Junior Glee Club, are offered at this level as well as the opportunity to take private or semi-private instruction in piano and guitar.
There are frequent opportunities for performance at all levels such as:

  • music assemblies
  • music and art afternoons and evenings
  • musical productions
  • Conference of Independent School’s Music Festival, an annual event held at Roy Thompson Hall
