The York School’s newly rebranded Spirit House names and logos were recently revealed at opening assemblies for the Junior, Middle and Senior Schools.
There were enthusiastic cheers when students and faculty learned that the new Spirit Houses are called Earth, Air, Fire and Water. During the 2022-23 school year, students from JK to Grade 12 were asked for their input on possible new names and symbols.
Spirit Directors and House Heads/Captains explained how the members of each Spirit House (and their corresponding elements) will contribute to the York School community.
Earth represents the strong foundation of our community. It keeps us grounded and encourages our growth.
Air is the connection between our physical and mental states. Air is what brings mindfulness and balance to our community.
Fire is the passion within our community and the spark of curiosity that inspires us to embrace new opportunities and challenge ourselves to take risks.
Water represents what connects all members of our community. Water is the undercurrent that binds us together and sustains our relationships.
We look forward to using our new Spirit Houses to build even stronger relationships across the York community!
