Alumni Spotlight: York Debate Alumni '19-'22

York Debate Alumni Reunite in Montreal!
Last Saturday night, Mr. Burkett hosted a dinner at a Montreal restaurant for his former students and debaters attending McGill and Concordia. Years 2019, 2020, and 2022 were represented. Mr. Burkett was in Montreal with Grade 12 students who had qualified to represent Ontario at the British Parliamentary National Debate Tournament hosted by Selwyn House. The Grade 12 students must have been inspired by the successes of our alum as they went on the next day to win the whole tournament qualifying them to represent Canada at Internationals hosted by Oxford and Cambridge Universities. It was a wonderful evening of reminiscing, laughter and great food. In attendance: Sasha Devine '19; Ryan Cho '20; Jamie Rygiel-Baban, Sasha Reydman, Cameron Meredith, Dila Gevrekyan and Anastasia Rybakova '22.
