Grade 9 Visual Arts students turn to art to explore conservation themes
Inspired by artists such as Robert Bateman, James Audubon, Roger Tory Peterson, Louis Schwartzberg and James Prosek, the Grade 9 Visual Arts students were tasked to reflect on and create illustrations of birds and pollinators in order to use visual arts as a medium to create awareness, respect and conservation of the animals depicted and the environments that serve as their habitats.
The backgrounds depict interesting facts about the student’s chosen species and a mood and emotion that the students wanted their artwork to convey. Ultimately, the students used their art to create a connection between art and the conservation of nature.
The full gallery of wildlife in full colour is on display outside Principal Hamilton's office for the whole student body to enjoy.
