Welcome to York | Meet Conor Jones, Head of School

At The York School we encourage students

to be themselves and to be great.

This is my eleventh year at The York School, and my second year as Head of School.  Each year, I learn more about the school and I continue to be impressed with our students, their incredible achievements and the enthusiasm of our fantastic staff and faculty. It is a privilege to work with such enthusiastic people who are dedicated to helping our students succeed.

The York School is home to just over 600 students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12. We encourage each of our students to be curious, confident, adventurous and compassionate. The International Baccalaureate curriculum, in simple terms, helps guide students in the junior grades to ask lots of questions, in the middle grades to question their understanding of the world, and in the senior grades to challenge themselves to be the very best version of themselves as they look towards the opportunities available at The York School and beyond.  We work hard to ensure all of our students embody our mission statement which is to “develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who are engaged citizens of the world.”

Our Junior, Middle and Senior School campuses are located in midtown Toronto. The urban environment provides us access to all that a world-class city offers while our relationship with Camp Oochigeas and our classroom at Evergreen’s Brick Works ensures that we stay connected to nature, as well. York students have countless opportunities to explore their interests and the world around them, often by travelling there! We offer a wide range of trips within Canada and abroad.

Please read more about our fantastic programming and opportunities on our website and I encourage you to make an appointment with our Admissions team to come in and see for yourself that The York School is a vibrant, friendly and welcoming place.

We look forward to meeting you and having you join our community.

Sincerely,
Conor Jones
Head of School
