Grade 5 Exhibition Provocation

Feminism, equality, water scarcity, air pollution...these are just a few of the topics covered by our guests speakers at the Grade 5 Exhibition provocation last week.

Students in our Grade 5 class spent last week dedicated to our Exhibition provocation where members of both our parent and staff communities came in to share their knowledge and passion for a particular issue.

Having listened to these presentations, students will now be selecting one topic to present on at our upcoming Exhibition on May 12^th.

Topics and speakers included:

Feminism and Equality by Dr. Kristin Blakely-Kozman, York School parent and Professor of Sociology and Women's Studies at York University

Change the Law: Change the World by Linda Plumpton, York School parent and litigator

Clothing, Connections, Community by Alykhan Suleman, Executive Director of New Circles

Autism Advocacy by Nicole Irwin, York School parent, educator and Autism advocate

Get Ahead by Megan Stephenson, York School educator

Air Pollution by Kelsey Lewis, York School educator

Water Scarcity by Katherine Almeida, York School educator

The Importance of Giving Back by Afzal Shaikh, York School educator

It was an incredibly inspiring week that generated a lot of buzz amongst our students. Thank you to the many members of our community for all of your hard work, time, expertise, energy and enthusiasm. We’re looking forward to hearing more in May!
