What brought me to The York School is in essence what brings all of our students here, the opportunity to be part of an innovative, inclusive, co-educational community that learns 'locally and thinks globally'.

Experientia Docet or Experience Teaches is not just our motto; it has shaped the teaching and learning experience at York since 1965.  We prepare our students though enquiry based learning to be authentic learners and experience the world around them.
 
Our collective experience, specifically that of our students, parents, alumni, faculty and staff, has propelled The York School within the world of independent schools, to be a leader and innovator in the educational realm. We are proud to proclaim that we are the first school in Canada to be accredited to offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) from Junior Kindergarten through to Grade 12.  This speaks to our innovative leadership in education and desire to meet the needs of our students.

As an urban school located in the city core, we are unique to the City of Toronto but quite similar to schools in other world class cities including Manhattan and London. We are a place where students excel academically both inside our doors and far beyond them.  Located on Toronto’s defining street, The York School offers an abundance of opportunities for all of our students. Though we thrive in the city, we are not bound by it.  A short drive north allows our students explore the best of the world outdoors at Camp Oochigeas.  Add our service trips, student exchanges and excursions and our campus becomes the city, the country, the world. 

Meanwhile, steps from the hustle and bustle of Yonge Street, our kindergarten students discover the wonderful world of learning at our North Campus on Glebe Road East. Our kindergarten programmes are unique in that they combine the best of Montessori with the Primary Years programme of the IB.

Ours is a true educational experience, one that shapes how our students see their world and the many opportunities which it offers them.
