Putting hearts and hands together to give to needy families. Literally helping children to read into the future. Giving young cancer patients a dose of laughter and fun-filled summertime activities.
It's all part of service learning at York. In 41 years, we've learned that experience teaches. Just as our motto says. And that's how our students give back to community – through experience.
Our service programme models the International Baccalaureate Organization's and complements academic learning and intellectual growth. York students become socially and culturally aware, and learn to cooperate and lead.
We encourage our students to actively participate in community building. Take the International Service Expedition for example. This experience gives our larger York community and students the chance to build a longer-term partnership with children and caregivers at the Families for Children orphanage in India.
